Monumental Sports & Entertainment and the 15 Seconds of Fame spectator app have extended their partnership to continue using an image recognition system at Capital One Arena during Washington Wizards and Washington Capitals home games.

Capital One Arena fans can upload a selfie to the 15SOF mobile app to receive video clips of their faces as they are captured by TV cameras or video panels in the stadium. Monumental initially partnered with 15SOF in 2017. The company also has deals with several NBA, NFL, MLB and NHL teams, as well as league-level deals with the NBA and MLB. which were extended in October.

“More than ever, fans want to uniquely show their team pride and share important memories on social media, and we believe 15SOF is the perfect platform to do so,” said Hunter Lochmann, director of marketing at MSE, in a press release.

15 Seconds of Fame plans to start broadcasting events in 2022 by “tying people’s seat tickets and their movement with our artificial intelligence,” co-founder Adam Resnick told SportTechie in October. The idea is for the app to send game streams or highlights to a fan’s phone on-site as soon as they leave their seating section to go to the concession stand or washroom, for example.
