SRINAGAR: A mega sporting event for disabled athletes was hosted by the Voluntary Medicare Society (VMS) on Thursday at its premises in Bemina, here.
Players from almost every district participated in track and field, basketball, badminton and sitting volleyball events. Secretary of the J&K Sports Council, Nuzhat Gull chaired the function as guest of honor. During her interaction with the players, she praised the players for their resilience and reducing their addiction by actively participating in sports and games.
She praised the role of VMS for its tireless efforts to rehabilitate and alleviate the suffering of people with special abilities and provide them with a platform to showcase their talent and abilities.
She commended VMS for providing an enabling and supportive platform for such people from where they can excel in their talent and become valued and responsible members of society.
Kifayat Ullah Rizvi, Honorary Secretary General of Indian Red Cross, was the guest of honor on the occasion, and Muneer Alam, volleyball coach from the University of Kashmir, attended the ceremony as special guest .
