Indian fans can follow all the action of the country’s para-athletes live at the upcoming Paralympic Games with the Indian Paralympic Committee awarding the Games broadcast rights to Eurosport India.
The Tokyo Paralympic Games, which will take place from August 24 to September 5, will be the first time that Eurosport will broadcast a global multisport event in India.
“Eurosport will be our official media broadcast partner to share the exciting live broadcast of the upcoming Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games,” PCI General Secretary Gursharan Singh said in a statement.
India will field its largest contingent on record this year with 54 Paralympic athletes competing across nine sporting disciplines.
Some of the athletes include world No.3 and No.2 Sumit Antil and Sandeep Chaudhary in the javelin; Manish Narwal (10m air pistol), Singhraj (10m air pistol) and Avani Lekhara (10m air rifle, 50m air rifle) in shooting and Mariyappan Thangavelu in high jump. Thangavelu will be the flag bearer for the Indian team.
Badminton will make its Paralympic Games debut, which will feature up to five Indian commuters in the men’s category – Pramod Bhagat, Manoj Sarkar, Tarun Dhillon, Suhas Yathiraj and Krishna Nagar alongside women’s doubles from Parul Parmar and Palak Kohli.
Coverage of the Paralympic Games will begin on August 27 with the men’s and women’s archery events at the Yumenoshima Park archery field.
The Eurosport stream will also be LIVE on the discovery + application.
