COVID-19 precautions in place as Raleigh hosts esports event ::

– While the number of daily cases of coronavirus across the country reached a milestone on Saturday, several large gatherings took place normally in the Triangle.

More than 3,000 people were expected to attend the North American Finals of the Carolina Games Summit -XP League at the Raleigh Convention Center.

By the time the guests enter, they will be given a mask if they don’t have one. Participants must also go through temperature screens.

Creative director of the event, Michael Everett, said staff have put in place precautions to prevent the summit from becoming a large-scale event.

“We check the temperatures at the door seems like an easy thing to do. Plus, having masks at the door [and] let these be free, “he said.” I am surprised at the number of people who have picked them up. We really disinfect every night. We have a lot of controllers. “

Some of the players at the top wore masks. Some of the guests in the crowd and others walking around the room were not wearing face coverings.

“It is highly recommended [to wear a mask.] Our staff, I can dictate [them wearing a mask.] A lot of people will eat and do various things that they could take off their masks, but we are doing all we can to demand that [people wear masks,]”Everett said.

Event organizers also encouraged guests to bring their game controllers, computers and consoles to eliminate all contact.
